Chevrolet Viva is spied, set to replace Aveo

The lowest rung on the Chevrolet car ladder currently is home to the Aveo. But that car is scheduled to be replaced midway through 2010 with a new model. Spy shooters have captured engineers testing a prototype of the new car, which Internet chatter says will wear the Viva nameplate.

Hyundai releases second-generation Genesis renders

Hyundai's second-generation Genesis has been previewed in new renders ahead of its full reveal in Korea later this year. The Genesis, which will hit the carmaker's stand at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in January, is the first model developed with Hyundai's new ‘Fluidic Sculpture 2.0' design language. It features several cues seen on the HCD-14 Genesis concept, unveiled at this year's NAIAS, such as the sharp shoulder line and the single-frame hexagonal grille design. In fact, it's nearly unchanged from the beltline up. At the rear, the sweeping roofline flows to a short trunk lid while the rear lamps wrap around from the tailgate into the rear-quarter panels.

Although the cosmetic changes to the Jetta are minor – the usual tweaks to the back and front, including a revised grill – VW claim the small changes it’s made result in a Jetta that’s ten per cent more aerodynamic (which makes you wonder why they didn’t do it earlier). The visual changes inside are just as minor, with a new steering wheel, new trims and new fabric options, with ambient lighting fitted to the Jetta GT.
